it's what you like... kinda a blank post.... if you like more rap then you want more bass , simple stuff like that... I don't understand yet what suggestion you want for your type of music...

I've been playing with the settings on the 9857.

It is a little confusing, so far I have just tried to adjust them so I am not fiddling with the controls on every song, and so the system sounds the best.

I don't listen to too much rap, but I have the same setup as you, just the HU and stock speakers. I have my BBE on mode 3, Bass at +3 at 80HZ I think, Treb is at +5 at 100 HZ. I like the way it sounds for the kind of music I play.

If you'll read the manual, it describes what the different settings of Hz and mHz are for. Basically, you set it to a range. So for bass, do you want all sound frequencies in this "frequency range" to hit hard or soft. Do you want bass all the time or only at certain points of a song. That's really it. Same for treble. As a rule of thumb, set all your bass and treble to 0 before changing the Hz or mHz. Personally, I like my bass in a narrow frequency so my arse doesn't vibrate for the whole song. Treble I widened a little bit, but not too much as my ears get sensitive to everything being high pitched.
