How much do you want to spend?

What's more important, loudness, sound quality, or the name on the speaker?

Go for a decent head unit (Alpine/Eclipse) and use Ebay to pick up some good components for around 250 (JL Z or X series, Diamond Audio Hex or 6 series, MB Quart). Just use the internal amp on the HU until you can afford the wiring and a quality amp.

I just installed an Eclipse CD7100 and using the internal amp (haven't had time to wire the amp in) made a huge difference in not only loudness, but sound quality as well (with Diamond Hex components).

If you go with Eclipse, I'd recommend purchasing the HU from an authorized dealer and installing it yourself (very easy). Eclipse warranties their HU regardless of who installed it as long as it was purchased at an authorized dealer.

Fair warning: the Diamond Hex speakers won't fit into the stock speaker mount, you'll have to either make a custom mount or attach them directly to the door (they fit, but barely). Also, the crossovers are huge. You can remove the box (looks like it was made for crossovers to be mounted in) on the inside of the door panel and it leaves a flat spot they'll mount into.

it sounds like you have some reading to do:

look under Amplifiers, Component Speakers, and Vibration Damping.

Get the Alpine Type R components for the doors. They sound terrific and have great bass response. Get a 4 channel amp so you can add a subwoofer later down the road.
