Default Speaker choice

Hi. I'm just looking for some opinions... I'm buying new components for the front doors and can't decide what to buy. I am prepared to modify a little to make things fit as I know theres not much depth in the door.

I am considering buying:

MTX RTS652

Alpine SPG-17CS

Infinity Reference 6520cs

Any thoughts on any of these speakers would be much appreciated!

Cheers

Would be better off posting this in the electronics forum. Or searching through there. Lots of info.

Of the brands you listed, the Infinity will offer *very slightly* better audio reproduction. Would not be a noticeable difference.

The Alpine speakers handle more power and would be best suited for an "all around application where you may later add an amplifier.

In terms of sensitivity, both of the speakers are fairly efficient with power.

Both sets use a fabric style tweeter which is good for smooth, rolling highs.

Either set will suit you well. Even as an audiophile, I suggest you snap up the pair that is less costly to you.

Again, that 50 watt rating it max power per channel, not the RMS power.

Put simply, RMS is the effective power. The power at which the head unit can play nice music, without distortion, etc.

I believe Alpine uses 17-18 watt RMS internal amplifiers.

This is the wattage that your speakers will see, and this is the reason to have high sensitivity (efficient) speakers.

Let me know if you have any other questions, I'll watch the thread but feel free to PM with any ?'s as well.

Thanks again. Just on the power topic, I will be adding the Alpine Head Unit Power Pack (KTP-445) which provides 4x45w rms. Might consider a 10" sub as well. Not decided...

Not in a great hurry to do this as the car hasn't moved off the drive for 4 weeks now due to the weather and may be stuck there for several weeks yet

Thats quite alright. A lot of people on this forum are fans of Polk Audio components. They work well if just up-grading your speakers.

Just wanted to bump this thread. I'm looking into upgrading speaker components as well. Looking something that I don't have to modify any brackets or anything. Something that's just a plug and play that can give me a better all around sound. Yes I upgraded my headunit as well. Any suggestions?
