Just wanted to bump this thread. I'm looking into upgrading speaker components as well. Looking something that I don't have to modify any brackets or anything. Something that's just a plug and play that can give me a better all around sound. Yes I upgraded my headunit as well. Any suggestions?
Polk dB series door speaker replacements.

^Will do you nicely. You can add an amp later if you want more sound intensity.

Thanks again. Just on the power topic, I will be adding the Alpine Head Unit Power Pack (KTP-445) which provides 4x45w rms. Might consider a 10" sub as well. Not decided...

Not in a great hurry to do this as the car hasn't moved off the drive for 4 weeks now due to the weather and may be stuck there for several weeks yet
I did the DB6501 components in the stock door location and an Alpine X305s head unit and am happy with the results so far. I am in the process of installing a separate amp after trying the Alpine power pack with no luck. I called Alpine tech support and was told that you need to run at least 4 speakers to make it work. As I was only running the components in the front door this was not possible without adding 2 additional speakers which I wasn't looking to do. Some people have said that they have gotten the KTP-445 to work but I have now exhausted my own knowledge and that of 3 separate stereo shops and have not been able to do so. If anyone has gotten it to work let me know how before I go spend more $ on a dedicated amp. Or, if anyone has 4 speakers and wanted to try one of these power packs out PM me and we can work out a deal/trade or whatever
