Speaker Upgrade Please help!
I know this has been covered before, but I'm not finding what I need or I'm finding contradictory information.
There aren't that many stereo stores were I live, so I can't hear most of the speakers I'm considering.
I've been reading good things about Dynaudio, CDT, and Focal. I have MBQuart professional 2 ways now. I want less harsh highs, with good clarity, and more bass/midbass.
I'm considering both 3 way and 2 way sets.
which of these will sound best? Are they close or is one way better? Is the CDT stagefront the way to go with the CDT speakers?
Will the Dynaudio 7" woofer fit in the door without hacking things up? I've read contradictory opinions.
I'm also toying with Morel 8" woofers crossed for bass if I can fit them someplace in the cabin.
Thanks,
Ken

alright -- you can't demo, so you've got to rely on others.
budget?
music preferences?
and list out speakers that you both like and dislike that you've heard and the 'why'. MB Quarts = less harsh highs, with good clarity, and more bass/midbass.
more like that will help us determine your needs.
and you'll be very hard pressed to put subs in the cabin, unless you cut metal or do a footwell sub... and even then, you may have to cut metal.

I have the MB quarts professional 6.5 components. I like the clarity of the sound. I can hear everything, but it can be too harsh and little mid bass or bass.
I've heard focal Utopia 3 ways and K2 2 ways. The Utopias were very pretty, but the K2s had more punch. I'd like to have both if I could.
Pink Floyd's dark side of the moon as an example of music.
Budget is not the issue when prices range greatly depending on where you get them.
I need to know how the dynaudio and cdt compare with mb quart and focal.
Also if Morel are any good.

Since we're on this subject how do the Phoenix Gold elite's compare?!
I'm in a similiar position where i can't demo much gear, and I want either Focal's or PG's up front. But I've heard that the Focal's can be as harsh as the Quarts. Are The PG elite's as harsh?
Badger lover,

I'm curious to see what people have to say about this one.
2004 Badger lover,
you're gonna need a sub, if you don't already have one.
& have you considered adjusting the crossovers? giving yourself a little less treble to the tweets can substantially help out the harshness of the highs.

You've never heard music and thought it sounded beautiful? Pretty is not exactly a rare adjective.
The dark side of the moon taxes a system, because it has lows, highs, mids, a complex mix of sound, layers of sound, with beautiful harmonies. I used them as an example because I want a system that can do it all.

I asked if anyone could compare the sound of CDT and Dynaudio to Focal and MbQuart.
Pretty and Beautiful are very similar adjectives. Beautiful is pretty, but to a greater degree. If you know what beautiful music sounds like, then you know what pretty music sounds like.
I still don't know what Dynaudio and CDT sound like compared to what I've heard.
