Which speakers are best with S-PODS?
Hi everyone,
I have an 02 sebring/black and want to purchase S-POds from Mark. I need some input on the type of speakers that I should get and approximate price range for each set. I'm a newbie when it comes to car audio so please use PLAIN english. Any and all help will be appreciated. Thank you.

what do you want to spend? can you give us a budget?
what do you plan to use as your CD player/amplifier?
what kind of music do you listen to?
--answer these questions, and we can start to help you... but the best thing to do is go out and listen to gear in stores and pick what you like out... then come back and ask us for more guidance...
btw -- be sure to read the S2000 electronics FAQ.

I'm looking to spend around $500 for audio parts whether it may be just speakers or with amp support. I've read that the Alpine R speakers are pretty good. Do I need to an amp with new speakers or will speakers alone do the trick. I listen to alot of hip hop, trance and rock. Thanks.
Hey it sounds like we listen to the same music, so I'll share my set-up with you. I'm NOT writing just to try & sell you on the S-Pods.
I've installed & listened to Alpine R's...they're awsome but expensive. That's why I went with Crystal cpE50's in the S-Pods & cpE60's in the front. They're power rating is close to the Alpines.
This gets expensive fast so...I first went with the Crystals up front & coaxials in the pods, with the stock HU, no amp = HUGE improvement.
Then crystals in S-Pods = another huge improvement.
Finally I bit the bullet and added: Alpine HU, Alpine R sub, Alpine 5 channel amp. As you might guess I'm verry happy now, but there's nothing wrong with upgrading in stages. Each stage will be a little better than the last, and you won't have to come up with all that $$$$ at one time. Just keep in mind your ultimate goal so you don't buy stuff you'll later want to replace. (like I did!)

My first audio upgrade was Alpine type R components in the S-pods with a stock head unit. This was a huge improvement alone, allowing me to easily hear the music with the top down at 80+ mph. Later I added the same speakers to the doors and an Alpine MRV-F450 amp which netted another increase in sound quality and volume. Last step was adding a 9815 HU and 10" Type R sub in the trunk. I couldn't be happier with the set-up! I would however suggest to set the crossovers to flat, otherwise the tweeters are pretty bright (a little too bright for my taste)!
