Default Stereo for the Beater...

Hey guys,

I just picked up a beater car, a 90 Acura Integra LS w/85k miles.

Anyway, the stereo sucks and is shot to hell. I need to replace the speakers and the headunit (only a tape). I don't want to do any amp now because this is only a beater. I figured I could get some kind of decently amplified deck and some direct replacement 6 1/2 speakers.

I would like an DIN sized MP3 comptable, headunit with a respectable amp. Additionally I would like to find some decent 6 1/2 speakers. I'm looking for the best bang for the buck here guys! My only guideline for the speakers is that they have decent bass response!

Why don't you upgrade your headunit in the S use the old one in your acura.

I really like the way the S sounds and i don't want to mess with it. Plus I dont know if the wiring harnesses are the same in all Honda products.

Just want a new headunit, spend about $300. Speakers, just something that sounds good and wont break my bank!

You can probably pick up an S 00-01 pretty cheap if not free if you asked here. Other 1-din honda radios would work too. To use an S radio you would need the into radio harness and one to interface the integra. older pre 98 Honda radios should just plug in.

Its an idea, but I wanted an MP3 deck as I'm not going to get a changer...

We need beaters, becase there are certain places you dont want to bring your S. Additionally things here are far away and you need to drive a lot. It packs the miles on your cars.

Get some 6.5's from Lucid (his speakers will fit Acura Integra's also). He can probably guide you in the right direction for a HU also.
