Question speakers with no amp

anyone know of good aftermarket speakers that do not need a amp? i was going to go with components but cannot anymore. is there a nice aftermarket speaker with tweeter combo thats not a component or that does not need to be amped. or should i just buy normal 6.5 and remove the tweeter?? im looking for a cheap alternative to components with a good amount of bass.

Yeah get a nice after market HU and keep the stock ones

Do not change out the stock components for coax speakers... it will sound worse. Stick with components. If you can't afford them... keep saving

^^What he said. Stick with components.

Technically no 2-way speakers or seperates (at or above 4ohm) need an aftermarket amp, but it does help out. What you could do is buy your headunit and your speakers, then buy an amp later if you're not satisfied with the sound.

The stock speakers on the new S2000 are pretty good. They are very efficient and will work with a headunit upgrade. I did not go this route. I changed out speakers first, then the headunit. The increase in sound quality was not was great as I would have thought. So follow the sequence outlined, that gives you the best bang for the buck.

Headunit first, then speakers, then amp.....

I just got the alpine 9857 HU in my S this weekend.

Prior to that I installed JL XR Coaxials on the stock HU. These coaxials have a crossover too. The way I hooked it up, my stock tweets are still working along with the tweets on the coaxials. This setup sounded pretty decent.

Now with the 9857, its hooked up the same way..and the quality is waaaay better. Driving on the freeways drone out a lot of the sound tho, i'm thinking when i sound deaden some of the car..this solve that problem. I'll eventually hook up my JL 300/4 amp when i have time. But it sounds great with just the HU already A LOT of midbass which i LOVE.

Sitting in my driveway just listening to the stereo sounds great, but on freeways too much road noise and have to turn up the stereo more and kind of to the point where the speakers will distort. Hence why I'll eventually hook up the amp. THe head unit does provide a lot of power for the speakers and sounds good enough for most people to not really require an amp.

right now i have alpine type-r coaxials in my car with no amp running off my pioneer 7800mp. it sounds good, but it gets muddy at high levels and dont expect to hear any music with the top down lol

an amp is really necessary with and high end speakers (coax and component)... if you're looking for speakers w/ no amp, look for one that uses low power... something around 25watts rms.

here's a good set that is 35watts rms which will run off the stock hu and aftermarket hu's well

just hook it up and not disconnect the stock tweeter.

Details: I disconnected the speaker plug from the stock speaker. I have one of those male to female speaker plugs that plugs right into the stock speaker adapter. The other end just goes into my crossover.

I think doing it like this causes more load on the head unit. When I install my amp, I'm not going to hook up the tweeter on the coaxial because I have extra set of tweeter seperates that will go into the stock location.
