If we have any spotify users on board are you able to play your playlists in the car?

Just changed to a new iPhone but can't seem to get it to work?

Do you have a paid subscription?

From Spotify (for mobile):
Why can’t I play a specific song?
Streaming on demand is a Premium-only feature. To play any song, anytime, just upgrade to Premium.

Ive run into a problem with my iphone before where it wouldnt play any music or apps through the headunit unless there was atleast one song stored on it. I found a free one to download and then it worked fine.

Get an Android. Really easy to work. Just dump music on it like a drive instead of screwing around with the iTunes store garbage. My Note 4 streams beautifully and with T Mobile it does not come off the data plan. Removable battery. Removable memory chip.

Off the grid (deep in canyons) just use what is stored or listen to the engine wail.

I do. Even if you have the offline mode on i still can't get it to work. It will work fine offline but can't get it through the car though.

You didn't mention if this is stock HU or a head unit with aux/BT input.

I have a Kenwood x998 and use Spotify all time. I use it in offline mode, and use Bluettoth to transmit to the Kenwood.
Works like a charm. When I turn the vehicle off, then return, after the car has started (about 15 seconds afterwards)Spotify
begins playing again from the exact spot it stopped at. I have noticed that the volume using BT is significantly louder then when
I use a 3.5"-3.5" cable in the aux jack. That seems very weird to me.

It's an aftermarket Alpine head unit. I have tried it as an aux input and blue tooth but still no joy
