I'm interested in making my own fiberglass enclosure like your's soon, but there's just one point where I am confused. How do you get the MDF top to mount flush to the fiberglass? Also, how did you make the top MDF piece?

Looks like you needed more mold release wax, Pam, anything greasy.

Hope it comes out well!

Well to get the mdf to stick to the fiberglass, i kind of got luck because of the tool well cover lip. So i just used that to hold the two together.

To get the main mdf piece I just traced the tool kit cover(but added 1/4 to the outside of the trace).

Then for the top piece I just did some measuring.

Sandwiched all together and went to town

Lined the inside of the trunk area with foil and sprayed the heck out of it with wd-40.

I was going to do a write up, but last time I did one so many people made fun of me, I decided never to do a write up again for this site.

How large is your speaker? 10? 12? with 0.51 ft^3 of space... you do realize that the speaker (being an inverse cone) subtracts from that area, right? WLaurent enclosures are quite small, about 0.58 ft^3, and only certain 10" subs work with them--others require much more airspace to sound good. Have you considered porting the box?

P.S., there are many mounting solutions for amps; above gas tank, in spare tire, even on the underside of the trunk lid if you're creative. Try looking in the gallery and also search the electronics forum.

Thanx
I looked in the gallery. Not a whole lot of good looking amp mounting.

Id like to put near the gas filler but I think that is a tad dangerous.

The box is .51 with the sub.

Porting a box this small would be dumb
