there's no need for additional cooling beyond cooling fans on the amp. Air gets back there from behind the seats.

Really? If I can mount it above the tank, it would solve nearly all of my space issues. Whats considered a big amp (in terms of size) mine measures 12.75" x 10.25" x 2.25" . Its for my highs/mids so I doubt it would generate that much heat (although I have heard Tru tech amps run hot) but with little air circulation..well.

that amp will fit above the gas tank - anything under 15" or 16" long and
less than about 2.5" high should fit. Can't answer how it will do heatwise,
but in general I'd look for an amp with good side-mounted heatsinks -
cooling holes on the top won't do you any good.

Hm....mine is pretty stealth....

This is my theft deterrent. If someone pops my trunk, this is my custom install. No thats not luggage, they are strategically molded items to make it look like the trunk is full of crap. This is what it looks like after the alarm is removed....

Cant get much more stealth than that.

Went to my hifi specialist today.
He measured the empty spare tire area and decided to build a custom box containing a Pioneer TS-SW2541D 10" 4-ohm shallow subwoofer since it doesn't require that much space and it is by far the best neodym woofer on the market.

Pioneer takes massive bass and squeezes into the smallest space. The new SW series incorporates an ingenious double-cone structure with air suspension control system to provide incredible bass output from a subwoofer barely over 3" deep! The composite IMPP main cone mates with an internal drive cone to form a sealed pocket of air. This controlled air system acts like a spring for smoother and more precise movement of the cones. Both cones are interlaced with carbon and ultra long glass fiber, and feature C-type nodes for increased rigidity and durability. The new 3-layer fiber woven radial surround features an M-shaped cross-section for extreme excursion capabilities, and joins forces with the high-roll surround for the internal drive cone. The massive strontium magnet assembly and T-pole yoke are held together by a cast aluminum basket with fin-shaped design. Other features include a 4-layer long voice coil on glass fiber bobbin, spider-free design, and aluminum dust cap.
Together with one of the HERTZ HSK 165 systems of my old civic

and a nice audison LRX amp this will be a nice setup.

What do you think?
Has anyone of you experiences with this woofer?

thanks

The Local car steroe shop recommended the same sub to me in my S, havent heard it though.
They also recommended the pioneer premier amp (1200 Watts peak I think, 4 channel, bridgable) so you can run your sub, and a pair of components
has new ICE technology doesnt get as hot, so is good for small enclosures.

hope that helps
