Sticky Pad: Cheap cell phone mount
I've recently purchased this http://www.spacesavers.com/stickypad.html as an impluse buy at a big box office store.
My objective was to find something to easily keep my cell phone handy. I figured for $5 why not give it a try. I was pleasantly surprised. The mat holds my RAZR V3i solidly on my dashboard above the radio [away from the airbag!] I played with it for giggles, and was able to move the pad down the dash to get the phone to mount between a 75-90 degree angle. I didn't have the confidence to leave it there, but I wouldn't bet against it holding.
The sticky mat doesn't have any adhesives, and it did not leave any marks after use. There are a few issues: (a) I have to trim the mat down a bit. The "excess mat" would tend to flap in the wind. (b) this kind of seems like a ghetto solution. I may be so bothered by this I may just use it on the inside of the radio door. That is, drive with the radio door down, with the sticky mat applied to the door. It should keep the phone from flying across the interior during spirited driving.
The bottom line is it works well, and can be quickly tucked away in the sliding drawer or glove box. While there are many mounts that look cooler [like Modifry's] this one is completely stealth. It takes all of 10 seconds to stow away! I highly value stealth as I've been robbed before.
This may or may not be something for you, but I'll confirm it's a solid option. Worst case scenario is you blow $5.

i had one for about a month and it was good but all of a sudden it started to flap around then eventually i flew off and i tried to put it back on but it seemed to lose its stickyness, i cleaned the dash where it was and tried again, but it just wouldnt stay on, i still have it in my side pocket on my door and its just too bad it doesnt work anymore. maybe it had somethin to do with the fact i would take it off and clean under it when cleaning my car. good product for a month or so, for me atleast, but i want anouther one. i got a free one from my friend at radio shack
