Default Stock Audio System Questions

I have an '06 and the woofer in the passenger door vibrates like mad under heavy bass. It sounds blown. How could that be possible with the stock head unit? Also has anyone been able to replace speakers with the stock head unit and get improved sound? I want to keep my car visibly stock so changing the head unit isn't an option for me.

I don't have any real helpful advice, but my passenger speaker sounds the same, so I am replacing them. My plan is to buy Infinity Reference 6020CS components and replace the speakers/tweeters in both doors. There is a fairly detailed how to w/ pictures you can find if you search...

why the desire to keep the headunit? Swapping head units in and out is a breeze and only takes maybe 15 minutes. Especially if you buy a wiring harness you completely eliminate the need to splice wires.

I understand that... but why does that matter so much? You really can't get better sound by just replacing the speakers if the HU is still sending out a low-quality signal.

In my case, I am not changing the stock headunit due to $$ right now...getting married in June. Wife to be is getting the speakers as a b-day present for me. Headunit upgrade will probably come some time later. I do think sound will improve slightly with not blown speakers too, maybe not much, but no more flappy woofer is enough to justify the upgrade at the moment.

I understand that the signal isn't great. I just want it to look stock, the illumination to match at night, no modifry stuff to get the alternate controls to work, and not to take anything apart if I don't have to. Seems like I should just have the dealer replace the ?blown? speaker under warranty?
