Default Sub and Head Unit Recommendation

I am thinking about getting an S2000 and really think that it needs an upgrade in the stock system. So far I have narrowed it down to these guys. Any one with experience with these?

The head unit has blue tooth integration to an iPod or cell phone, which I believe will make life a whole lot easier! Along with the subwoofer. I'm not trying to rattling the whole community, but just a little pick under the passenger seat.

Your help is much appreciated!

I have that exact same head unit. I'm really happy with it, too. It also has the remote input for the wired Modifry DCI. The internal amp is decent, but I still upgraded to a separate one. It also has 3 pre-outs, including a sub-level so you can control the sub volume separately.

The red display matches up decently with the car's interior, and it preserves night vision better than the really bright blue. It also supports dimming when you turn on the headlights...if your wiring harness has that lead.

I use it with a 16GB USB stick and my Droid via Bluetooth. I also tested a girl friend's iPhone4 and it worked, too. Phone calls are OK...the external mic is recommended, though...I have mine coming out of the arm rest.

I have it hooked up to a 4 channel Alpine V-Power (MRP-F300 4*50W) to the front Alpine Type Rs and bridged to a JL 10W1V3 sub.

There is a slightly newer model that will have more "out of the box" functionality with Pandora (namely thumb up/down and display). That is $199, though, and I'm not sure if it supports those things via Bluetooth. The unit you linked will support pause/skip just fine, though.

I have my doubts that sub will fit under the seat...and even if it does it will be quite muffled as the seat will be right on it and you will likely scrape it up when adjusting the seat. You'll mostly likely be trunk-mounting it...and the reviews of it aren't so great as it seems to overheat easily. Also, the power specs are not posted...it is NOT 900 watts.

From what I've been reading, it seems as if the footwell, tool box, or the boot is the places. It sees as if the under-the-passenger-seat is a difficulty.

Do you guys know of any amplified subwoofers that are decent? I know I'm taking the cheap way out, but I just don't see the importance of thumping bass.

Thanks for reading!

The reviews on Amazon tell you all you need to know about the sub.

Get a darkside enclosure http://www.darksidesubs.com/ with a mid-priced 10" (I have one of these) http://www.amazon.com/Alpine-SWS1043...2386340&sr=1-2 as well as a 2nd hand Amp from Ebay which you can mount atop the fuel tank (see my sig for pics).

It provides a decent fill in below your door speakers and makes an excellent difference to the overall sound quality. Yes, it'll cost a bit more, but it'll be worth it.

I also got the RSX sub for mine a few years ago. I couldn't even tell it was there. It sucks. I felt like I wasted so much time wiring it up.

A good subwoofer + setup doesn't have thumping bass, it blends with the entire sound setup. A good subwoofer and setup will sound as if it was coming from your midrange or mid bass speakers.

I too didn't realize the significance of bass until I had some. I then thought how my favorite alternative or rock songs would sound without a kick drum or bass guitar, or how my favorite jazz music would sound without a bass violin or how lifeless live audio performances would sound without the addition of bass instruments. I feel that bass is or should be an essential setup in any audio setup.

You could purchase a shallow mount subwoofer such as the MB Quart RLP254 (Which sounds pretty good), Kenwood or Pioneer for less than $100. You can purchase a mono amp to power your subwoofer for less than $200 or a 4 channel amplifier such as the Kenwood XR-4S for less than $300 and run your entire setup for less than $500.

im currently in break-in process of my 3rd kicker cvt6.5-4 in the secret compartment and a kicker cvt8-4 in the tool well area 2 work 2gether for my bass in my S. all powered by a kicker 200.2 amp. so far the 8 in trunk sounds nice but the 6.5 in secret compartment added to the equation should b perfect and not take any room in passenger area or trunk.
