Default Subwoofer choices

I'm thinking of upgrading my sound system and adding a subwoofer, but I'm torn between a couple choices, hope you guys can chime in and help me decide.

JL Audio 10w6
Boston Acoustics G5
Alphasonik 800 10''

I've heard good things about all three, so I'd like to hear you guys' opinions. The 10w6 is the most expensive one. I want to put the sub on the side of my trunk, and I read that darksidesubs offers that. Will any of these have problems fitting in that box? I'm open to more suggestions too.

jl is overpriced...

the thing i'd be more concerned with is which one matches up better based on the volume of the enclosure you will be using.

you can never go wrong with the JL, not sure if it will fit the darkside boxes, might be a little deep

I disagree.

I find that you can pay 2x as much for a JL sub/amp as you'd pay for a comparable quality sub/amp elsewhere.

So would you guys recommend to skip the JL and opt for one of the other two instead? Cost is definitely a factor. Is the JL MUCH better than the other two?

i have an alphasonik mayhem 12" and i think it's great.

JL is overpriced and you can definitely get something better if you want to spend that much, or you can get something better than the JL and not spend that much.

For the money I like the Alpine SWR1022/1042. I agree that JL is over priced, but the slash model amps are the only thing I run or recommend to others.

I've read that alpine does not offer any subs comparable to JL, is this true?

And I was also wondering, would there be any fitment issues of any of those three subs into your v2 enclosure?

Do you know offhand if the Alpine sub fits your V1 box?

I currently have the Audiobahn you once offered as a option with your boxes and was looking for some alternatives that might fit. (It's the passenger side, 10" sub - probably 3-4 years ago if the design has changed)
