I've read that alpine does not offer any subs comparable to JL, is this true?
I have listened to most subs on the market. The JL's are nice sounding sub, I would put the Alpine type-R subs somewhere between the W3 and W6 JL subs as far as SQL and SPL and they can be had for less than 1/2 the price of the JL's.

Will PM you

If I were to go for the alpine type r should I get the 4 ohm or 2 ohm? I'll probably be running an alpine mrp m500 as my amp, or something similar in terms of power.

To get the full 500 watts on that amp you need a 2 ohm load. You will want to go with the 4 ohm dual voice coil and run them in parallel.

Things are alright up here.

Getting cold? It never got hot this year

If I could bring the Phx weather up this way, I'd be good

Okay I think I understand what you mean.
Will 500rms at 2ohm be enough for this subwoofer?

So basically for 1 sub you buy the 4 ohm and wire parallel, and for 2 subs you buy 2 ohms and wire series? Am I getting that right? And in my situation since I'm only running 1 sub I should be buying the 4 ohm version and run it parallel to my amplifier.
