Default Super noob question

So, I don't really want a super nice system, and sold my 4 channel amp I planned on using for my S2000 stereo system. But never had time/money to do the full upgrade I planned.

Now the question: I'm thinking of getting some decent door component speakers but would rather NOT wire them to an amp. Is that possible?

I was in the same boat as you a short while back.

It all depends on the sensitivity. Speakers with lower sensitivity will require more power to sound good, which usually means an external amp. Speakers with higher sensitivity can run off the head unit power only and still sound decent, although they will still sound better with an external amp.

Thanks!

Should be noted I'm running an Alpine 9856 and the stock door speakers in my 08 definitely hold their own as far as sound, but would like just a bit more base that I know I could get out of components just using the 9856

I'm looking to upgrade the speakers in my AP2 (2005). I upgraded the head unit to an Alpine iDA x303 (16 watts RMS/50 peak x 4 channels) and want to upgrade the speakers to match. I have no real interest in running an amp or sub anytime later on, so good quality speakers that could run off this unit is what I am looking for.

Any suggestions?

Also, can anyone confirm that for a 2005 S2k, AP2, there are only 2 speakers and 2 tweeters, 1 on each door? I found someone make a note of rear speakers behind the seat in AP2's that I am trying to confirm (would check out my car but it's still at Honda).

Thanks!
