Is there a 6 1/2" component speaker system that easily fits into my 2002?

Pod may fit or you would need to remove it from its casing for the tweeter.

I have the Focal 165W Utopia's and they fit. I would use Lucid's adpter for the 6.5 and the tweeter fits right in the pod of the 02. It fits tight and I've had no problems with it.

Lucid,

Do I need the extra depth kit for speakers that require a mounting depth of 2-9/16"(65mm) for MY 02'?

I'm about to install a set of Boston Acoustics RC620 speakers and want to order your adapter kit but want to make sure I don't need the extra depth kit.

Thanks.

The stock tweets are small (sorry, I forget what diameter). Most respectible/capable component tweeters are larger. I bought the Polk EX3's. They are a rather common size. Nonetheless, I had to do some cutting/shaving on the original pods to get my new tweets to fit (inside the pods). Definitely "doable", but it WAS a pain. But provided me with more capable tweeters and a cleaner look than if I had mounted them somewhere else.
