I've heard people (with AP2's) claim that they can remove the radio door and trim without removing the console. I've never been able to do so. It's not a big deal to remove. A dash removal tool helps but I've removed and reinstalled the console countless times without any tools.

Removal is covered on page 1. Install is a matter of getting a harness, wiring everything up properly and reversing the removal process.

Very good write up, any owner's recently updated their new HU? Can you recommend any good unit that in compatible with the modify DCI?
The list on their site are not current with all the new models that change every year.
From http://www.modifry.com/products/dci/...patibility.htm

[QUOTE]If you email me with a compatibility question I'm going to have to do my own on-line search to try and find the information so you're usually better off doing your own research.

Those with AP1s can remove the radio door without removing the center console.

- I didn't remove the shift knob or unplug the hazard/roof/etc; I just pulled everything back a bit and had enough clearance. It was really pretty easy that way, so I'd recommend tryin to skip that step on the original instructions.
Good info here for the guys. Did it this way tonight and it worked like a charm. Cheers.

Anyone have some ideas (pics) on how to mount the cd player in place? I cant get the screws in when the cd player is in place, no room. JVC KD-AVX77.

You need to drill new holes in the factory bracket to get the JVC KD-AVX77 to fit (I have the same HU). The door will also close when the screen is tilted at Lv. 2 if you get it right but will not close at Lv. 3 tilt. You also have to clear room behind the HU so that it fits with all the fixin' hooked up, try pulling the OEM Harness out from behing the drivers side to make some room.

Ahaha I was reading this and was like lol wut? You have to take the center console off? Old post... I installed my Alpine 9886 only removing the door and plastic holding in the radio. The only hard and time consuming part was soldering connections for the head unit :S.
Adding an rca to 3.5mm jack was easy in the s2k, just goes through the dash to the floor since we don't have glove boxes there.
