WEll i got one quick question.

I just checked with my top well. I have two gaps where I can stick the matches. I have one higher up and one lower close to the top well. Which of the two gaps would I stick the matches. I honestly dont think this is going to do anything on my rattles. I can barely get enough gap while pushing down to insert anything. I am just going to put the matches in each gap and pray!!! I will let you know how it turns out after the road test.

Wish me luck.

Well, this really concerns everyone with subs.....but I guess everyone can benefit from this. I have finally found an easy way to get rid of that stupid top well rattle.

Ok, things you need

4 standard matchsticks, electrical tape, 3.6 brain cells.

or

A piece of rubber, 1.3 brain cells.

Ok, to understand what I am saying, if you reach behind the windscreen, and put your hand on the topwell, you will feel a space where the back of the center console meets the top well. Now that you understand that, here's what you do.

Take 4 WOODEN matchsticks, and arrange them to make one big matchstick....like so...

xx
xx

(Or you can cut a piece of rubber about 1.8" long and and thick as 4 matchsticks.)

Wrap the matchsticks in electrical tape, or dip them into some silicone.

After that, with your right hand, push down onto the top well near the center console area and youll make the gap wide enough to fit your new anti-rattle device. Then, just let go. Make sure its in there, and voila! No more rattle.

This is for people who dont feel like taking out the top well permanently, or taking it out at all for modifications (its a major pain in the a$$.) I spent about an hour in my garage observing the behaviour of the well, and how to make rattles go away. This is mod invisible, cheap, and easy.

Also, since matchsticks may vary in size, your new device should be 1/8th" thick
If you are paranoid, cut the heads off the matches so you cant ignite them.
Good luck!
How about a pic please?

THere should only be one place where the well meets the back of the center console. Also, youll know you did it right if you have a hard time moving the top well. Mine got REAL tight. Also, if it doesnt work the first time, dont despair. Make the wedge thicker. This isnt an esact science, so stay with me.

I have the opposite problem. I couldn't push enough of a gap to get even two matchsticks in there. Maybe I don't have the same rattle that you guys have. Mine is very snug and extremely tight. In fact, I think I loosened it up much more than it was but I couldn't hear any new vibrations so I guess I'm okay.

Are you going to build a kit to sell through Rick's?

Seriously, though, I am definitely doing this over the weekend.
