Default TOP WELL RATTLE SOLUTION

Well, this really concerns everyone with subs.....but I guess everyone can benefit from this. I have finally found an easy way to get rid of that stupid top well rattle.

Ok, things you need

4 standard matchsticks, electrical tape, 3.6 brain cells.

or

A piece of rubber, 1.3 brain cells.

Ok, to understand what I am saying, if you reach behind the windscreen, and put your hand on the topwell, you will feel a space where the back of the center console meets the top well. Now that you understand that, here's what you do.

Take 4 WOODEN matchsticks, and arrange them to make one big matchstick....like so...

(Or you can cut a piece of rubber about 1.8" long and and thick as 4 matchsticks.)

Wrap the matchsticks in electrical tape, or dip them into some silicone.

After that, with your right hand, push down onto the top well near the center console area and youll make the gap wide enough to fit your new anti-rattle device. Then, just let go. Make sure its in there, and voila! No more rattle.

This is for people who dont feel like taking out the top well permanently, or taking it out at all for modifications (its a major pain in the a$$.) I spent about an hour in my garage observing the behaviour of the well, and how to make rattles go away. This is mod invisible, cheap, and easy.

Also, since matchsticks may vary in size, your new device should be 1/8th" thick
If you are paranoid, cut the heads off the matches so you cant ignite them.
Good luck!

Yup, in the cold, the materials "shrink" and the rattle grew unbearable. Now, no rattle.

Depends on the noise. If its a vibrating plastic sound, its def. the topwell.

This is one mod I think I can afford. Too bad I've already removed my tray.

Thanks for the info!
