I try to use AMEX online - Gold and Platinum card holders can dispute payment up to 90 days on most purchases
I'm pretty sure Visa and M/C will allow you to dispute charges up to 60 days from the transaction date.

you should dispute the charge asap with your credit card company to stop the clock,
which you should definitely do. that is one of the primary reasons to use a credit
card for purchases. don't just "live and learn" yet.

OK--I used MC and I'll give it a try. Nothing to lose I guess.

Actually, it sounds like you have some money to lose... and a working set of speakers.

as a correction -- technically, Alpine and DEI WILL warranty (i'm not sure about Eclipse) things purchased online. it's more of a question of authorized dealer than online or offline. (ie, Crutchfield sells Alpine online, and they are authorized)

best of luck w/ this -- it is one of the big risks (and worst case scenario) of buying online...

A word from one of your resident bankers

Most financial institutions will allow you to place disputes up to 90 days after the purchase. If I were you I'd get on the phone with them ASAP - I agree that you have a legit claim
