Trouble shoot an Alpine CDA9856
I have a silly question. This year I upgraded from my old Kenwood CD receiver to an Alpine so that I could regain the use of my dash controls. However, I can not figure out how to enable the dash controls. The stereo shop that did the install told me that there is a way to switch them off and on using the receiver, but since they are the lamest of lame in customer service, they did not elaborate any futher than that. I recently had my S2000 guru who does all my other work on the car take a look at it, and he said that the DCI is wired correctly....100% positive.
Any of you resident experts know what I can do to gain the use of my controls?

Wired DCI or IR? When did you buy it? What model HU? Email me with details and I'll do my best to help you figure out what's up. (bob@modifry.com)
We've had a recent (now to 30 days ago) problem with the 3.5mm plugs on Alpine Wired DCIs and if you bought it in that time frame that could account for why it doesn't work.
I'm not a head unit expert by any means but it make no sense to me why there would be a way to switch off the wired remote input. If you don't want it to work, don't plug it in.
Does the Alpine hand-held IR remote work?
