Want to replace Alpine HU with modifry, can I drop in a Pioneer?
The PO of my car had an Alpine HU with Modifry controls installed (unfortunately they don't work right now on account of a non-functioning IR emitter). I want to replace the HU since the one that's in there doesn't accept Aux or Bluetooth (Alpine CDA-117), so I have my eye on a Pioneer unit for a good price. Before I crack into the install, is the Pioneer going to be a direct drop in with the Modifry piece? Even if I have to do some splicing between harnesses, that's OK. I just want to make sure I don't need to buy a whole new Modifry because of the HU brand.
I emailed Modifry, but he's not that responsive it would seem. I do understand this is a side business for him.

IR DCI - An infra-red solution that works on 10 of the most common head units by mimicking the manufacturer's hand-held remote. It controls the head unit via a tiny IR emitter (supplied) which must be installed facing the head unit's IR receiver (usually on the front panel). The IR DCI has a dip switch to select your HU brand, which means if (for example) you buy an IR DCI to operate your Alpine head unit and later change to Sony (or any of the supported head units) you can use the same DCI just by changing the switch setting.
