Default Trunk mounted amp?

Do you have a trunk mounted amp?
If so, are you having trouble with the amp overheating and shutting down?
What can be done to improve the cooling, short of putting the amp in the passenger dept? [I've thought of putting a 12V fan blowing directly on the amp.]
Has anyone tried this???

Thanks,
-Steve

What kind of amp do you have and where is it mounted???

I've never had that happen to my amps, and mine were mounted upside down on the trunk lid last year and I never had a problem....

It's a MTX 6304 four channel amp mounted to the trunk "floor", just to the right of the well.
It seems to overheat when the temp outside is hot, [it's already in the eighties here in Texas.]
I really didn't have a problem during the winter months.
What amp would you recommend???
Thanks,
-Steve

Hmmm. Maybe take some pics of your setup so it could be better diagnosed?

what speakers are you running?
what impedences are they?
is the amp bridged?
how long is the amp running before shutdown?
what volume levels are you using?
what are your gains set at?
do you have anything on top of the amp during these times?
