um, I think I broke my stereo
Really, I don't know what happened. I was trying to install my little mtx amp and spliced in with the factory deck wires. I got everything connected and plugged the deck back in....nothing. The security button still flashes, and the outer part illuminates with the lights on, but it's like it won't turn on and no power to the display. Any suggestions? I checked the fuses under the dash, and even looked under the hood. I also disconnected and reconnected the battery. Still the same problem. Is there a fuse located inside the deck itself that I might have blown? Help! I was trying to save my money for exhaust, not a new cd player.
nevermind, I figured it out. Just incase anyone was wondering, theres a fuse listed as ACC that aparently is the power turn on wire for the stereo. well, I blew that fuse. All is well now and my stereo sounds that much better. It's amazing what a little power can do. BTW I have kenwood 6 1/2s.
I'm glad it was nothing serious.
Kenwood xr600 speakers?
How much amp power?
Where did you mount the amp?
How do your Kenwoods sound when playing loud? Do they still really distort the bass? Goldtrom tried to amplify them and found they did still sound pretty distorted at high bass.
I'm running Kenwood xr600 speakers in front, Polk ex402a speakers in back and an Alpine 60 watt x 4 (27 watts rms/channel) head.
An amp is on my "perhaps" list.

I've just had this exact thing happen to me, sold my Alpine 7878 and was refitting the OEM head unit, turned it on...."pop"....
Checked the "radio" fuse - nada....
Checked s2ki - voila!!
Cheers everyone and a very Merry Christmas!
