Default Underseat Subs

Has anyone tried an underseat sub in the secret compartment?

I'd like to add a small sub, but I don't want to lose any trunk space. I've seen the thread with the small sub behind the seat, however I'd be after more stealth.

Any thoughts or comments?

yeah i'm thinking of getting 2 under each seat. since we don't need space there and i don't want to loose trunk. and my other option is if i found who is selling the passenger side footwell 8" or 10" subfiber glass enclosure that would be great too...like the pic below..i really like this one..https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.ph...ic=638143&st=0

Dave, what kind of SQ are you looking for?

You aren't likely to find anything truly SQ in a self-powered sub...

I understand.

I currently have the Bose/RSX sub in my spare, which is really all I need.
But I'm going to be selling that, taking out the spare tire, and building a rack for the amp I just bought, and there is space next to the amp for a small, self-powered sub.

Honestly, I don't need SQ out of it...just want to fill in a little of what the speakers can't hit.

In a perfect world, spending $120 on a little sub would raise the SQ from 6.5/10 to 8/10...and not lose any trunk space.

Here's what I'd suggest then...

Wait a few more months for the Stereo Integrity BM to be released ( www.stereointegrity.com/bm.php ). $150 shipped (est price). You'll have unbelievable SQ in a sub that can fit in the spare tire area.

Use Jim (PAS2Knut)'s amp rack for your two amps, or mount them in the cabin behind the seats (where mine are), or over the fuel tank, etc.

As far as SQ goes...Nick, the owner of Stereo Integrity, has been working on the BM design for years. In fact, it's been in pre-production for at least the past year with him working to get all the fine details perfect. I've never met anyone who cared so much about the fine details required to really get the best SQ.

As for amps, there are plenty of amps available that will easily power the BM without taking up a lot of space.

You'll have to have a custom built box. The BM requires only a .5cu ft in a 4.75" tall enclosure (external height) using 3/4" MDF. It is a 12", so you'll get all the goodness of a 12" sub in a package that fits in the wheel well.

I might be mistaken, but I thought Jim's amp rack went across the opening into the spare tire area. If I'm mistaken, I apologize. Anyway, many people have built amp racks that fill that opening between the trunk and the underside of the top tray.

This is a 12" sub, so you won't easily be able to fit it in the passenger footwell.

Personally, I have an SI Mag (the full size 12") v4 in my S in a WLaurent tool well enclosure. My gf and I made a 1 1/2 week roadtrip from NY to Baton Rouge, LA, back up through the Dragon and home (approx 3500mi) without taking the sub out (and I don't have a grill covering it, so that limits me to packing on the sides of the trunk).
