While I'm here I figured I'd post and let y'all know I'll have an Alpine wired DCI available in the next few weeks. If anybody's about to buy Alpine I thought you might like to know now and maybe wait to get the wired version rather than get an IR DCI and say "Doh!" [Homer voice] 2 weeks from now. The GoFastLab and my web site will be updated when we're ready to take orders.

It will have the exact same functionality as the IR DCI for Alpine, it just plugs in the back of the HU using the same mini-plug as Sony and Pioneer instead of using the IR emitter. But don't confuse the Alpine wired with Sony/Pioneer, they work totally different and aren't interchangeable, despite using the same mini-plug.

As far as I know only the 2005 mid-priced and up head units have the wired input jack. Models in the 9851, 9853, 9855 series.

Anything ordered over the weekend went out Monday morning. If you mail it back I'll swap it for the new wired version, you'll just have to cover the shipping both ways. I use Priority Mail so that's $4. Either inlclude a check or send a PayPal to paypal@modifry.com.

The Alpine Wired versions will start shipping soon. The design is finished and fully tested, I just need the time to build them. Since I'm going to the Dragon this weekend I figured "about 2 weeks" would not put me in a bind to fill orders. Might be as soon as this weekend though, if I get back early.

 

What is your mailing address so I can send it back?.. is it ok if I take out the harness tho?.. since I still want to do my headunit install this week.

 

Modfry, you're killing me. I just ordered a DCI too for my Alpine (you just shipped it), but I have the 9847 - can you verify that your new DCI will work w/ this head unit? What exactly does the wired input jack look like? I already have the Alpine iPod adapter connected, fyi.

i got the pac swi-alp for $54 buy it now new on ebay. works great! probably the only thing, there is no variable volume :-( but its worth it ;-)

If your Alpine IR DCI has been installed (and I'll know it) I'll upgrade it to a wired version for $20 plus the $4 shipping. Send me your DCI only. You can keep your DCI harness because I'd just throw it away anyway. I will be "modifrying" your old DCI (hence the $20) which means removing parts, installing others, and loading new software.
