Upgraded Valentine 1
I've been researching on several different and Valentine 1 was #2 on the list until they finally came up with the 2 Band POP detection system.

For those of you who are interested, I guess this would make it the determining factor. I will be getting one soon for my car. Just wanted you folks to know. Hope everyone had a happy New Year.

The upgade from v1.8 to the new model with 2 band POP is only $55. Hmmm let me think about that for about a second.
Apparently the cost to upgrade is based on the age of your V1. According to Valentine's website I can upgrade for free (I bought my V1 this past summer). You'll need the 10 digit serial number on the receiver to check your price.
If you dont mind me asking, when did you purchase your V1? I just entered the VIN for my V1 on the website and it stated that I had to pay $55 for the upgrade....I bought mine in mid-April last year....was hoping there was a 1-year free upgrade window?
Thanks
Thanks

I upgraded mine a couple months ago, cost me $212. But considering I had it since junior year high school (and 24 now) figured it wasn't bad. Especially since you get a new one (new box cords, etc.) and since my ac adapter was smashed in accident
decided to do it.
Anyways, does this new 2 pop things give a different start up then the pop 1? Mine will flash P O P when it starts up, roommates thats maybe a year old just did the old startup, wondering if mine is current and too lazy / cold outside to run and check serial # lol.
Oh also if you didn't know you can reprogram some of the functions on the V1, most importantly this means no more X band for me
theres a bunch of other crap you can do, but i can't remember. It's all listed somewhere on there site under technical questions i believe.

But the real point of my post is this...
Do a search on eBay of closed auctions for this unit. Even v1.7 units are going for $300+, with v1.8 units going for close to full retail. If you have to pay for an upgrade, I'd seriously consider selling your current unit on eBay and just outright buying a new one. You'll probably save yourself some money.
