well that sucks - I bought mine last May and they still want $55.00 + shipping to upgrade
Valentine releaseed POP detection in July of 2004. If you bought one any earlier than that, you have to pay for the upgrade.

If you own a ver. 1.7, they will send you a new one, but for $212.

Anyways, does this new 2 pop things give a different start up then the pop 1
The only way to know if you have 1 or 2 band pop is by the serial number, or revision number, the latest firmware is 3.818.

Are they invisible to Sceptre yet?
They are still visible to spectre.

and 2 POP does what exactly??????

Oh also if you didn't know you can reprogram some of the functions on the V1

One thing I noticed about the Pop2 upgrade is that it falses a lot more on K band, and a slight increase in range on X band. In NJ, the police still use X band. The pop2 upgrade also displays J (for junk) when it detects a leaky radar detector, before the pop2 upgrade, it would just go off normally.

I didn't think the upgrade was worth it for me since POP isn't used much (if at all) around here... but with this, I may have to reconsider. I get too many annoying false alarms because people are buying those crappy Radio Shack style detectors that leak like a sieve.
