Default Upgrading system, need advice...

Merry christmas to me . I am upgrading my stereo very soon and am debating on what to get. I have already ordered a component set of infinity kappa perfects for the doors, and plan to get either the alpine 9835 (if I can find one), or a 9855. I am also planning to get a set of spods. Now I am wondering if I should get another set of the kappa perfects for those (the 5 1/4 ones)? Or would that be too much sound right in the back of your head?? I am thinking of either doing that and getting a 100ishX4 amp, or getting something along the lines of infinity refrence set (not component) for back there and running that right off the rear channel of the head unit, and gettting a 100x2 amp for the fronts... I am just wondering if having the kappa perfect tweeters back there (or any tweeters at all) would be too much sound for that location. Let me know what you guys think... Oh yeah, I get a really good discount on infinity thats why I am going with them. Thx

Here is what I am doing (along with several other members on this site):

I just got a set of highly sensitive 5.25 components (91+) to run off HU power. Seeing as the speakers are RIGHT next to your head, they should not be fed the same amount of power as the door drivers. It would throw the phasing WAY out of whack, and I dont think HU's have that much of a time align correction. If you want to stay with Infinity, the reference series will work. You will not get much bass out of these speakers due to the enclosure, so a massive magnet/low end extension is not really needed.

I am going to be running Alphasonik PCT6501's in the doors. I will leave the Blaupunkt TsC series in the Spods for now....will upgrade to Alpha later, but that will only be for staying in the brand name. I am going to be amping the doors and sub with a Hifonics Titan 8800 amp (110wrms x2, and 440WRMS bridged to the sub).

I will let you know how it turns out. The speakers and amp are due in next friday.

John

I currently am running Infinity Reference components in my S-Pods, and Infinity Kappas in the doors with a 100x4 amp. I chose the reference series for the reasons posted earlier, however, i do highly recommend an amp on all 4 (or technically 8). All you gotta do is adjust the fader on the head unit, provided that you run 2 sets of RCA's. I love my setup, I wouldnt have it any other way!

i've got the reference infinties in the s-pods powered by an Alpine 9833 and Focals up front with 150 PG watts running to them. I still adjust the fader to the front a bit, but i have achieved quality sound and have not sacrificied noticable imaging. Power your reference infinity speakers with your headunit and you should be fine.
