Default V1 upgrades

Just read Barry's great thread on the V1 vs. Passport 8500. Did everyone know that Valentine will UPGRADE an older unit for a much-reduced price? I just sent in my 93/94 vintage V1 this week...cost was $269 + s/h. You fill in the serial # and receive a printable quote right on the website. IN FACT, mine is so old that I will receive a completely new current V1 for this (ouch) lesser $$. Mike Valentine does seem to follow thru on the "continuous improvement" thing.

The V1 has saved my a$$ many times over the past 7-8 years, but I did get caught on July 4th 2000...must have been one one the newer bands. My biggest gripe is a lot of false alarms, but i can live with it.

Did your V1 even go off? I have one that's 4 years old and it still works great! I don't think that there are any new radar bands. The benefits you'll probablly get w/ an upgrade is laser detection and a more sensitive Ka.

What speed detection did the police use? If it was laser, there is really no protection against that. Air? Pacing? There are other ways the police can detect your speed that cautious observation can minimize, but a V1 cannot.

Go to the upgrades section on the V1 website and input your serial # and it will tell you exactly what upgrades you'll get.
