Default VAFC? General explanations

Hey all, I've been thinking about this for some time, and an considering purchasing a VAFC for my car, but before I do, I need some information? I've searched the board, but haven't found a concise source of general information, plenty of tuning info though.

As far as engine electronics goes, I'm not very educated. My understanding is that VAFC lets you lower your VTEC crossover while producing overall gain throughout the power band?

But that's about it. I don't understand how, I don't know what potential problems this mod could create, what's involved in installing it, or anything. Maybe someone could post a general explanation of this system? Thanks

The VAFC allows you to add or subtract fuel along the rpm range for full or partial throttle. It does it by intercepting and altering the MAP signal.

The idea is that at certain points on the curve youmight be able to lean out the mixture and get more power. If you have intake, header, exhaust etc mods you might want more or less fuel at certain points for more power or more safety.
