Default Valentine 1 mirror mount

I was sick and tired of mounting the V1 with the suction cups and I saw a Corvette mount (http://www.greatlakestrophies.com/c5acc/) - so I made my own in with similar material. Cost, with tons of extra sheet metal AND all of the necessary tools was $35. I need to spray paint it black now.

The only downside was that our windshield is angled a lot more than the C5's and the sheet metal I purchased (26 gauge zinc) is easier to bend than the V1's visor mount, so you need to strengthen the design with some velcro to the windshield.

I riveted the mount pieces together, then drilled a hole in the sheet metal strip so the screw in the mirror would go through it, but hold it enough when fully clamped down. You can't put the mirror pop on cover after the install without cutting it a little, but it looks and works very well. Total time was about 3 hours to make the measurements and screw up a few mounts. Best of all, it slides off easily and remounts easily when I need it.

Here are some photos:

definately cool... w/ the wild humidity swings we have down here, sometimes my suction cups don't do so well...

this is a nice option...

Bravo, you beat me to it.
I ordered the corvette mount a few months ago to play with but never got around to making a custom mount, since the vette mount wouldn't work on the S. Glad to see someone else did it.
Wanna make me one?

Could we see some pix of JUST the mount disconnected? (Measured drawings would be VERY cool too.)

It is highly unlikely that the 8500 and the V1 would use the same signals. For basic power, it's possible they choose the same pins, but the remote displays would be very different.

Pete, it looks like you know what your talking about. I'll give you call if i can make up my damn mind. I just cant justify the 400 dollars that they're asking. Id rather put that towards my supercharger fund, or my gear fund.
