Viper Responder 791xv Help
I have a 05 S and had a Viper w/ Remote Start installed but when I got the ECU replaced by Honda (defect under warranty) I believe Honda tampered with my wiring on the alarm. Everything works like before with the alarm except one thing. I have the 556U Transponder Bypass added to the mix. I can start the car with the master key and press remote start, take out the key, and the car runs. When I try to start the car without the key in the ignition, it won't start and the security key light on the dash blinks. Even when I use a key in the ignition I can start the car with remote but the key has to be turned to the run position. I know the car is supposed to start with they key just in the ignition if there is a problem with the 556u unit. The part where the Viper replicates the key turning to the on position isn't working. What wire(s) can I check to fix this problem without paying for a re-installation from the local shop? Thanks ahead of time!
I believe that the 556U has a loom that has to be rapped around the ignition key cylinder (haven't used it in some time as we have moved onto the XK modules), that is what I would check first. Unless they disconnected some of the wiring, this may be the culprit.
Yeah the 556u, in my town, was discontinued 2 yrs ago to make room for the omegas that dont need a key. But to answer you, yes the antenna loop is around the ignition the ignition just isnt getting to the run position
The new key is in the 556u I can take the key out of the box and start the car. I didn't install the alarm but I have in the past (cliffords). The 556u seems to be functioning just fine. If I put the key in the ignition, it still doesn't start. I have to turn the key to the on position to get the car to start by remote. I THINK that is a problem with the alarm brain's remote start wiring. I could be wrong.
Yeah all keys are programmed. I have been under the dash all morning. This is what between me and the few guys at the shop that are willing to help without helping for legal reasons. They told me it is definitely in the ignition harness since I have to turn the key to on to start it. They gave me the following wiring to help me.
Power S2000 Viper
Starter blue/white purple/green
12v white and wt/black red and red/white
ignition black/yellow pink
second igni black/red pink/white
accessory white/red orange
These wire seem to be connected but what I did notice is that both the Pink/White (Viper Wire) and the Orange (Viper) have T's coming off of them after they t off the black/red (S) and the White/red (s) respectively. The only thing is there is no wire hooked to either T. Also the withe red has two orange wires coming off it and only one of them has a T connector for another wire that is missing. Don't know if this is the problem.

If you can take the key out of the 556u and start the car with it. then that means the 556u is not working properly.
I would check all connections for the 556u, make sure its getting status (-) turn on from the small guage blue/white wire out of the brain.
Also be sure the loop is properly around the FRONT of the key cyl. If its off even by a little it wont work.

I'm going check the connections but the local shop told me that if I have to turn the key to on position, then the ignition wasn't getting the power the alarm is supposed to supply it with. I'm just going off of what they tell me cause I've been lost for almost a month with this. I know that if I take the antenna loop from the 556u and try to do the remote start it doesn't even finish trying if I put the loop on the ignition, it powers up my dash, then my accessories (valentine comes on--its hardwired not cig lighter) then when it gets to where it would turn over the engine it shuts down and flashes the green security key on the dash board. We tried every possible direction with the loop and we twisted the bottom of the loop to ensure it is fixed to the plastic piece of the transponder around the ignition.
Alright getting closer to finding the culpret. When I start the car with the key to the on position, letting off of the emergency brake does NOT kill the engine. Taking my cover off of the console, there is a T terminal on the Ebrake wire but nothing connected. What wire from the Viper brain must connect to the e-brake. I asked the local shop and they told me it is the black/white wire (neutral safety switch) but this can't be it because that wire (on the pin connector with the purple, brown, black/white, blue/white wire) is grounded to metal frame under the dash. Hope this info helps.
