Default W7 8" sub

Hey guys I am thinking about getting the W7 8" sub. I was wondering if I make the box that goes in the middle of the truck, think the box will have enough space to work with the sub.

Recommended Sealed Enclosures
Subwoofer Volume 8W7-3 0.875 cu. ft. / 24.8 liters
(net int.) External Dimensions
(Width x Height x Depth) 14 in. x 10 in. x 16.75 in.
F3(Hz) 41.3
Fc (Hz) 46.0
Qtc 0.797

That is alot of sub, the W7 moves a ton of air. The best way would be to fiberglass the trunk well and create your enclosure that way.

Maybe check out the 10W6, needs less power, produces a better sound than an 8" and costs half as much. Just my opinion tho.

If you get the W7, post up some pics

I have installed the 8" W7 in a small enclosure on the side of the trunk and it sounded very nice. Enclosure volume was about 0.5 ft^3.

I agree with S2KinVA - get a nice 10" sub and it will sound better than that W7 at a far lower cost. Hit up darkknight1999 for an Alphasonik 610 or 810.

0.875 cu. ft.
That number is rather easily achieved. I believe you can get that with an MDF box. Fiberglassing gets it to over 1.0CF.

I have heard the w7 8 and w6 10. They both sound nice. I can get them for about the same price for each like 280 ship.

That is a great price for a 10W6, seems awful cheap for a W7.... here is a shot of my trunk with a 10W6 and I am very happy with it. I debated between the 10W7 and W6, decided that the W7 was too much for such a little car.

Like I said let us know which one you choose and post up pics of the finished product

I have the 12" W6v2 in my trunk.... (but car is in shop getting fixed from a wreck 3 weeks ago)... but yeah, the 8" won't have much range in bass... seriusly think about a sub >8"... it'll make WORLDS difference in range of bass... I was debating froma 12W7 or 12W6v2... W7 required too much box volume and would need more than I was willing to spend on a box... but yeah, post pics when you get the install done

I agree, I work at a stereo shop in Roanoke and we are JL dealers, the W7 moves one hell of a lot of air. The 13" has 3.5" of cone distortion either way. I would recommend using a 10" W6V2 in a ported enclosure, that's what I have in the back on my S2K. I'm running it off of a JL 250/1 and my highs are on a JL e2150, your going to need that because top down, bass hitting, your not hearing to muc highs. Also you may want to removed the rear plastic peice, if you dont mind the way it looks when the top is up, because that thing tends to rattle a lot and screw up the sound of your music.
