Default Want to replace polks for speakers with "thump"

These polks although a big difference over stock are really low when it comes to bass I'd like to put in speakers that give a little more thump also thinking of adding a small amp this time around.. suggestions? So far I am thinking

Alpine Type R?

Oh btw I already replaced the HU with an alpine.

I doubt you will find a good "thumping" 6.5in speaker. I"ve got the Type R's in my car, they are awesome but I don't have the bass very high at all. If you want to add some bass...get a sub.

That's not entirely true. PLENTY of 6.5" speakers add thump.

Diamond Hexes are great with bass. Not the same thump as a sub, but definitely doable. And there are definitely better out there. They're just expensive - but, hey, realistically, why skimp on the speakers when they're probably the most important part of a build...

Your are correct, sort of. Any 6.5 will produce bass but the down side is if you turn your bass up to high you'll shorten the life of the speaker.

That's not entirely true. Some speakers are better able to handle that bass and setting the speaker to run that lower freq is not detrimental to it's lifespan. The more you're willing to spend, the better your speaker will be built and (depending on what brand/series you go with) will produce better/cleaner/more bass than your typical $200 Best Buy/Circuit City/Crutchfield set.

My type R's are on the Alpine F300 (4-channel) bridged for just the front speakers and yes it does sound pretty amazing.

It does depend on the type of speaker to how well the bass sounds and my type R's are not the best "thumping" speaker even with the low frequencies turned up. If you want to get a good amount of bass you are going to want to get a sub.

Hertz Hi-Energy sound awesome, I still had to add a sub or two but alone they sound great. An amp goes a long way too, I like Audison but its not cheap.

Hertz and Audison are related somehow.
