The envioment in the s2000s doors isnt that hot. If you really want great sound you should probably fiberglass a small enclosure in the door or AT A MIN use dynamat to seal the door better. You'd want to remove all the OEM plastic and replace it with dynamat.

Ideally a 4ch amp will give the speakers the power they need to sound their best, along with a well sealed door you'll end up with some bad ass sound. Just dont expect subwoofer bass from door speakers. Thats why after all company make SUBwoofers.

Well, Froggy, that depends on what speakers you're putting in the doors.

I like the Sundown (www.sundown.com) lineup - just ordered 3 amps for an install I'm doing in my truck. I also like Audison.

But, again, it also depends on what speakers you're planning on using.

I just reinstalled my dual channel amps(took it off when i installed the old HU) with my polks speakers, they produce more bass(not that you want to push too much bass into the 6.5) and more importantly clearer sounds at higher volume.

at this point i am happy with it, adding a sub will require a new amp(for me) and truck space

Type Rs are known for highs, sometimes even criticized for having too harsh highs even. They won't be the best choice if you're looking to increase the bass/low tones.

I've been running a set of Polk Momo MMC6500s in my car (I had them in for 2 days without subs or amps, then added subs and amps) and they were decent with lower tones unaplified. They sound very good when amplified.

Is it compeltely out of the question to consider a sub for your car?

Yes I don't want to get a sub because it rattles up the whole car, I just want decent bass like the high end lexus's have in with the upgrades oem sound system.

I've looked into the jvc bb2 under seat sub seems like a great option :|

as sub will not always rattle the car. It depends on how much power you have and how its installed. A small sealed box with a 10" or an 8" will give you the bass you need without excess rattling. Even so the S2000 is well built and the few rattles it may have are easily stopped with dynamat or even something as simple as a zip tie and a foam sticker.

My 12" Mag with 500W has an amazing amount of output, and the only rattles I have are the top tray and my gauge pod... Easily enough stopped, just haven't bothered to do it (it's freaking cold out right now)

You know some of these Lexus' come with a factory sub. The doors on those cars are much more insulated than ours so there really is no comparison. Sealing the doors and getting a nice set of components running gobs of power will still not hit the low frequencies a sub can reproduce.
