Default A way for serious bass?

Hi.

I'm wondering if there's a way to get some serious sound out of the S2000 without custom fab'ing the entire trunk. A custom, removable sub box is fine, but not something that will turn my entire trunk into a box. I am looking for the most powerful sub that I could jam into an S2000 trunk - Preferably 2 subs.

I am coming from a 98 Prelude that had a custom sub box with 2 15" Eclipse Alluminum DVCs, being pushed by 2 Kenwood 401M v.1s. Highs were Boston professional componets pushed by a JL 300/2. Head unit was an Alpine CVA flip up screen with an Alpine DVD player hooked up - Alpine 6 disc changer and Optima Red Top battery as well.

My question is this.. Will anything slam as hard as my Prelude did in an S2000? I remember my stereo being so loud that I could barely hold a thought - a girl I went on a date with at the time actually felt sick after listening to a song at quarter volume. I know the softtop isn't ideal dynamics for us audiophiles, but neither is the enclosed trunk of a Honda Prelude.

Any suggestions would be of benefit. Thanks.

making a girl feel sick with the volume of your stereo isn't actually that impressive imo

building something that sounds clean and clear would be ideal for the s, i'm in the process myself.

let's just point out the obvious though.

it doesn't matter if you spend $1k on your components, if another car comes past you full chat (even hood up) it'll make no difference from having $50 components.

Anyways on topic: I am doing a single Kicker L7 10" sub which in the slim truck box actually fits flawlessly into the tool well. Should pound like crazy too. I'll snap some pics tomorrow.

He's from the UK guys...

His comment = if somebody drives past you at speed even with your top up, there isn't enough sound insulation in the S that you'll be able to tell the difference between mid-market and top of the line speakers.

I currently have a false floor with 2 10" subs in it, each rated ~1000 W RMS, barely lost any trunk space (except for tool well).

I need to add a terminal to a toolwell "box" that I have for a ~2200 W RMS 12" sub and try to run that.

The 12" sub "box" does interfere with trunk space, what I really need is a better amp as I keep having problems with my 2000W one...

I have a 12w6v2 in my trunk powered with a tiny 250/1 jl amp. It is more than enough for my ears and body to be happy even with the top down on the freeway.

Taking out the jack and tools makes alot of room, and you dont have to settle for a smaller sub in the flushmount toolwell enclosures. True you will lose some trunk space, but with the spare taken out and the amp mounted in the empty space provided with its absence, you will still have ample space.

I can fit my golf clubs in the trunk with the setup i have....crappy cellphone pics below

Sitting nicely in the well...

amp and golf shoes tucked away nicely...
