I bought a BlackVue DR650GW-2CH which I highly recommend but sadly they're not cheap. I did find mine on Craigslist but it was brand new with all the plastic coverings. From what I've seen there is a huge spread of quality between cameras that all claim HD 1080, look for cameras with "actual footage" posted, sure you'll find lots of reviews online.

Here's my post for installation if you go this route.

I used to have the Roadhawk HD, and to be honest, it was great, when it lasted, which was under one month. I bought it brand new off of amazon and luckily they refunded me my money when I voiced to them my concerns.

I ended up with the Rexing V1 which performs just as good, if not better. Lot of same/similar features and with me being a perfectionist at heart, this for the price is honestly superior to many dashcams out there that cost 3-5x as much.

PS: Roadhawk HD has paid reviews.

I don't have any footage (yet), but the link you can purchase the Rexing v1 is here:

I really like how the power cord connects to the base, and the camera itself draws power via pins when 'docked'

Here is the dash Cam I have.

Spy Tec A118-C Capacitor Edition Full 1080P HD Video Car Dashboard. On Amazon for about $80.

It looks like a rain sensor. I leave it in the car all the time. It seems somewhat stealthy.

I have a Mobius actioncam and a BlackVue. I bought the BlackVue first, but had I had the Mobius first, I would have two of the latter. The Mobius is missing GPS but is far cheaper, the video quality is the same, and its the size of a keyless entry remote (or two of the fairly small s2000 fobs stacked on top of each other). You should replace the battery with a capacitor if you use it as a dash cam. Its <$10 and easy to do.

1) Go to walmart
2) Go to the car section
3) Grab the box that says dash cam

Honestly for $40 the one they have there is of good quality and function, and the video is very crisp.
Saved my butt in an accident and now my whole family uses one.
