Default What HU fits my needs?

Hi,

I'm trying to find the right head unit that will best suit my needs.

Since I own an iPhone, I'd like my HU to support A2DP...
I'd like to be able to browse my music library using the dash controls.
I'd also like to drive a USB cable from behind the HU to the center console for keeping my phone charged.
Finally, if possible, I'd like to add a handsfree functionnality somehow but I'm not sure of the quality in a convertible car.

What I found yet is :
Alpine CDE-133BT (I read that the CDE could be incompatible with the Modifry DCI)
Alpine CDA-177

I'm kind of overwhelmed by all the info I read everywhere.
Budget is no more than 300$ for the HU, I hope it's enough to get something decent.
If someone know what could be a good product for me, no matter what the brand is, it would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance

I don't think any will allow you to browse using the dash controls. The dash controls generally only offer:

skip forward
skip back
FF
REW
volume control
mute/interrupt

Ok, thanks for the info.

Anybody had experience with a handsfree device in a S? I doubt about the quality when the top is down...

i have the alpine cda 117 with bluetooth. I have the mic mounted lower part of the dash by the defroster by the steering column.. it works good.

Pros: it works good and the way its suppose to.

Cons: if you have a loud exhaust... you will have a hard time hearing them and/or they may hear your loud exhaust when u are at high rpms.

i only drive top down. my exhaust is a greddy 70mm single with HFC.

If you have an iPhone look no further than the Alpine iDa-x305s

http://www.amazon.com/Alpine-iDA-X30...8710672&sr=8-1

It was made to work amazingly with iPhones and ipods. The menu system is very easy, works just like an ipod. It also supports Pandora which is pretty neat.

Just looked up what A2DP is - I don't think it supports streaming bluetooth, while I don't look at HU's all the time, I don't know of any that do.

In my search for a HU, many of them had a USB on the front faceplate, which a) looks bad and b) doesnt play nicely with our radio door. Good news, this one plugs into the back and you can route it wherever you like. I bought a mount for my iphone that is to the right of the HVAC controls and routed my ipod/iphone cable to there. Also, I probably never plug my phone in to charge anywhere because if I plug it in whlie driving, i never need to charge it other than that.

I think you can buy a seperate handsfree thing, but i haven't looked into it.

A lot of people on here have this Headunit and it's very popular for a reason. I recommend it.

The USB will not allow you to use your car speakers for phone calls. The bluetooth for alpine decks do support A2DP and will stream your music/audio through your car speakers. It will also allow you to play, pause, skip, prev track on the head unit (and modifry control units). You will also be able to answer phone calls and through the head unit.

I personally have the model below this without bluetooth because I figured it wouldn't work well with a convertible. One of the best Ipod/Iphone radios on the market.
