I just installed an amp (for my door speakers) and the BOSS Audio BASS600 self-powered sub.
It slides in there perfectly (mine are on the amp rack, side-by-side).
It also is supposed to fit under the seat.
Camera pic of my setup
The Sub
The amp
My honest opinion is that this system sounds AMAZING.
8.5/10 with the top down. Stock is more like 4.0/10
The Sub cost me $120 on Amazon.
Something to think about.

Between the powered MBQuart speakers and the Sub, I'm THRILLED.
I think you'll be less happy at the TOP END of the sub (when it really kicks) but for $150 or whatever, plus zero lost trunk space...it's pretty good.
Plus it's fully adjustable, so you can really do with it what you want.

Look, here's the bottom line problem.
You guys are wanting high quality bass (not just SQ, but SPL as well) for rock-bottom prices. No Ebay box will ever support a sub that is audible at highway speeds with the top down - esp not if you're running an aftermarket exhaust. That's just being realistic. Very VERY few subwoofers are designed to handle enough power in that small a volume - and none of them are self-contained, none of them are 10". The ONLY sub I've seen that can handle enough power and take less than 1cu ft is the Stereo Integrity BM (and it's still in pre-production). The only subs I've seen that can handle enough power (400W+) in 1 cu ft to really be audible at speed with the top down is the SI Mag v4, IDQ12 v3, and maybe a handful of other subs. Those are all 12's, and they're all much more expensive than the self-contained subs you guys are using (150 for the BM + amp and enclosure, $250 for the IDQ or Mag + amp and enclosure).
I have spent plenty of time and money on stereos in my truck (and now car) - and the one, ONE, lesson I wish to pass on is this:
Save yourself the money in the long run - do it right the first time. Spend $150 on the self-contained, find it's not enough, so you upgrade half-ass for $300 ($450 now) and then find it's still not enough and wind up spending another $500-700 to do what should have been done the first time around anyway - now you've spent over $1100 instead of just putting up $500-700 in the first place.
When you say it's an 8.5/10 - what would you say is a 10/10? Have you ever heard a 10/10 (I can pretty much guarantee you haven't - MB Quart is NOT 10/10, nor is Focal, CDT, JL, Alpine, etc. 10/10 means SEAS, ScanSpeak, Rainbow, etc - and not just their low/mid stuff.)

i agree with you 100%, to get adiquite bass you have to put some power to it, just like going fast, being loud costs, the ebay special boxes seem small, and most 12" subs need 1 cube+ and it is not there.
I have approached it differently, my passenger footwell box will be done for testing by Saturday (pics to follow) placing the sub in the cabin, in front of you, you keep your trunk, dont need as much power (250-300 watts) sounds amazing, using my shallow mount sub, your leg room is about the same as the drivers to the pedals.
Spend your money wisely, do it correctly the first time.

Would your enclosure be sufficient size for the Stereo Integrity BM?
- .5cu ft
- 12" (approx 11" cutout)
- 3" mounting depth (overall 4 1/2" enclosure depth given 3/4" MDF construction)
