Default What will give better sound?

Will replacing the speakers with some components speakers be just ok to improve sound a little, or will replacing the HU be better? Will the speakers be ok with so so power from the stock HU, or will i eventually need to replace the HU also and even get a small amp for the speakers? I dont want OMG loudness, just something a bit cleaner and better than OEM sound. Kind of like the BOSE system my RSX-S had.

Replace the HU first, go from there. A simple HU upgrade is the cheapest and easiest mod, and you can go from there. That is what I am doing on my new AP1.

Assuming i can only afford 1 upgrade at a time and the next one prob 2-3months from now, maybe more, what will improve sound for the meantime. New Component Speakers or new HU?

HU will be the best mod. Your stock speakers will be fine until you get them upgraded

The best route on a budget = HU, front speakers, amp, sub, rear speakers. Your on the right track.

I definitely found that to be the case. So far I've only replaced the stock head unit with an Alpine CDA-9886 and there was a bit of improvement.

I just recently updated my system. DIdnt want anything to 'over the top", just an upgrade from oem. I installed an Alpine HU, Boston Acoustics components in the doors, and small Alpine amp to power them.

The difference is night and day

Those are all decent - comes down to the feature set you like. I recently chose a Pioneer myself, because I liked the iPod interface better, and I prefer their XM solution.

IMO bluetooth is only useful if you stream music - I personally don't talk on the phone and drive the S at the same time.
