Default What is wrong with my sound system?!

Ok, so i finally managed to set everythign up in my trunk, i used a pair of infinity kappa perfect 6.1 in the front, with an infinity 4 channel amp (7541a new), and an infinity kappa perfect dvq 12" sub powered with an infinity 311a.

The music was loud and crisp.

then i took the car out for a spin, and the speakers kept cutting out. The odd thing is that it only does this if the car is turned on. When i'm parked in my driveway and the car is not turned on, it never cuts out even when i go up to 35 on my alpine dva-9861 (maximum). As soon as i start driving however, i can't get it up to more than 20 before it starts cutting out.

Another odd thing is that when i send all the music to one speaker (lets say the driver front), then it can put it as high as i want and it never cuts out.

On the amp that powers the speakers, the power light is always on (which is good) and but the clip and protect lights come on for some reason as well (when driving) but not when parked.

I installed a 1.2 farad capacitor in the car to make sure my lights would not dim when blasting music... do you think it could be a power problem?

This is very strange and i can't seem to resolve this problem (i tried everything!)

I also used 4 gauge knuconeptz wire and good rca so i think there is enough power going to the amp (since it works fine when the car is off)...

what do you guys think the problem could be?

Let me know please,

Dave

seeing how the problem is intermittent it seems like a bad electrical connection somewhere. check the ground wire connection for your amps and make sure they are properly grounded to a metal part of the car and re-connect all connections to secure t he cable is properly seated. check darknight's post on wiring your ICE for grounding locaiton suggestions.

Also check all your connections, especially the ground and power wire for your amps.

You are having a short on a wire. This happens when you are moving because the vibrations move the wire. Check every connection, make sure its REALLY clean and tight. Also, make sure you check the tweeters. Many people forget to seperate the tweeter wires (+and-) and they touch. Get back to us.
