Bass sound distorted...cut off frequentcy ?
I installed new HU and new Polk MMC 6500 . I don't have a sub so the bass is playing through the Polk speakers and it doesn't sound too good when there is alot of bass in a song.
What's the cut off frequency I should set on my HU to help with the sound ?
50-63-80-100-125-160-200 Hz
Thank guys.

Is an amp driving the MMC6500s? If so, did you set the gain/input senstivity correctly?
I'm feeding my 6500s with about 115 watts and they sound great, especially the bass.
I believe I have mine currently crossed over at 70 or 78 Hz at the amp -- I'm still running the stock HU. I have the Bass at +1 on the HU and the amp's Bass Boost at the mimimum.
I guess with your choices, I'd try 80 Hz first and depending on your volume preferences, adjust it to 100 or 63 (most likely 100 Hz). You may have to give up volume if you want more bass until you add a sub.

before actually cutting frequencies out -- make sure your bass control is set to 0 and the loudness (bass boost) is off.
those 2 things will quite easily and commonly cause premature distortion.
