Clarion with a DIY custom audio mod - works great, cost little/nothing.
Also like Alpine, but everyone else already has it, gotta be different

What I like... well let me define something

Low end sub $400 - Mid line $400-$1k, High End $1k+

Kenwood Mid line
Alpine Mid line
Clarion High End
Panasonic High End

Panasonic and Clarion are excellent with DVD audio/video. Still have yet to see an S with a true DVD system complete with digital decoder.

I had Sony Mobile ES in my Lude, and it was a great all around head unit, sound, features, display, easy to use.

I went with Alpine on the S, and I love it also! Sounds great, and a pretty face! I dont like that the painted indicators are wearing off the buttons!

I rarely listen to the radio and play mostly CDs. For this reason, my last 3 head units have been Alpines. JVCs are nice too.

Always Alpine. Just wish they would make another mini disk head unit. Disks fit nicely in the storage compartment.

Alpine. My 7893R is en route from the UK as we speak. I've had 3 Alpine CD changers in my various cars and all continue to work. Stuff is tough as nails.

Plus I like the way their decks dont have a bunch of gimmicks. They still include one knob to adjust most everything and normal preset buttons.

Just of note, don't know if anyone has tried. When reading the installation manual for the Alpine DVA7996 (US model) it looks like it has the jack for the Alpine Dash control interface. I'm curious to see if anyone tried it. Except the unit is $900 on ebay.

can you elaborate on this???
It is the Pioneer CD-RA306HD Honda S2000 interface. A UK site member picked one up for me last month. It works well with no lag/delay. The unit comes with ISO type connectors that do not work wih the US HU's, but the wire color codes are the same so all you have to do is cut off the ISO HU connectors and connect the harness that comes from your deck.

I will post some pics of the devise and the install later today. I have found a source for the unit but am working out the details.
