Default When Is A Cap "required" Versus "suggested"?

Can anybody please explain the basic reasoning/advantages behind having a "cap" installed when upgrading to a new sound system?

Is it to prevent stressing the battery/ charging system, or is there some additional benefit?

Lastly, will it IMPROVE sound quality or efficiency of the speakers/ amps etc...or does that depend ONLY on the amount of wattage/ amperage that is being used in my specific system?

Is there a "rule" that for a certain amount of watts/ amps, a XXXXX sized capacitor is recommended or REQUIRED?? If known, please advise...

I realize this is a bit technical, but if one is spending good $$$ for a sound upgrade, it makes sense to have it LAST as well as gain the most "bang for your buck"!

Thanks in adavance.

There was an entire thread about this a while back ago.....discussing the s2000 voltage potential.

Basically, the agreement was (more of a fact) that the s2000 cannot produce enough real power to warrant a capacitor.

Search function doesnt work right now, but let me know if you need further detail explanation.

*the thread was started by deadalus......subject was something with s2000 real power/voltage or something.
