Ive got one on my Sony xplod HU, I run the mike out the passenger side knee bolster and I have inserted in the storage net on the passenger side of the tranny tunnel. I have just enough of the mike end sticking out of the net to be exposed. It works fine and is kind of low key, nothing to install with this method and I never use the storage net for any other purpose.

OMFG! Thats where they put the mic? Geez....I wouldn't plan on ever getting anything else done at that shop if that's where they thought it should be.

I've yet to find a mic with good enough noise reduction that anybody can hear me....that's in a car with an exhaust and noisy high performance tires though....I settled on a bluetooth earpod unit that is awesome. The Phiaton. I've got another thread about it.

Do you guys think that having it mounted in the area of the cluster gauge is ideal? There should be less wind noise and is directly in front of the driver.

That's where mine is currently at, right in front of the gauge cluster, on the steering column. It doesn't sound very good at all, but then again, it didn't sound very good when I had it mounted on the a-pillar either.

I think it depends on the mic.

I would suggest installing the mic on the steering column directly in front of u.
It would look neat as well

I have my mike at the very front of my sun visor to have it a little closer to me so it is easier to hear. Haven't had any issues with the top up. Top down at high speeds is a different story.

I have a Kenwood KIV-BT901 and I mounted my mic on the underside of the climate controls, just enough to the left of the door to allow the door to open. I can be heard clearly top up or down, I just need to keep my right hand on the shifter so it doesn't block the mic.

Interesting. I have been on the fence about where to locate it. Thanks Fokker. I will most likely install it there since its not too far off and I'll be installing modifry's phone bracket.

I put mine under the hvac controls by the stereo door. Only problem I have is my double sided tape keeps letting it fall off every few days.
