Default Where did you put the eye for your PAC SWI-X?

Is there only one way to install this?

I'm not sure I understand your question....the eye has to point in the general direction of the receiving LED on the head unit.

On my Alpine, I was able to put the eye on top of the head unit
about one inch from the back of the IR receiver. There was no need to bring it to the front

Yeah, that's what I was talking about. On Lucid's install, you can see the eye seems to come from the SWI-X, squeezes between the HU and the frame and curves back around to point at the IR receiver on the HU. I would think this would be necessary for the eye to have an unobstructed sight line to the HU.

There was no need to bring the eye to the front of the unit. I tried it from the back and it worked fine and hasn't skipped a beat since.

Locate the SWIX in the empty cavity to the right of the radio cavity. You don't have to put it behind the radio and stuff it all in. I directed my eye right on the face of the radio and tilted it up. Response is excellent.
