Default Where to have AMP Repaired?

I have a spare RF BD500.1 it's an old amp that I bought for nearly nothing, that is identical to one I have in my DD.

So I let a friend borrow it, and he brings it back all Fd Up. Some Friend.

So it's been in the box for a while and I'd like to possibly get some use out of it.

Problem:

The Allen Screw for the GD- is cross threaded in the ...."reciptical"

So I took off the bottom plate to see if I could remove the entire thing......and buy a replacement, but Id rather let someone that knows what they are doing mess with it.

I know this will probably need pics.....but thought Id see if anyone knew a fix or where to send it w/o much hassle.

This is an AMP thats like the one I have, in case any of you had this back in the day.

This thing is pretty old, the one I have in the car now - I bought it brand new in 2002-2003 I think. just pushing 1 - 12" RF-HX2

if a cross-thread is the only problem, you could probably fix it for a few bucks... just drill into the cross-threaded allen bolt, use an easy-out to remove the bolt, tap the hole with a slightly larger thread pattern, and use a new allen bolt (or whatever head you want really) that matches the new thread pattern. Voila. $0.50 for the new bolt if you already have a drill, bit, and tap & die set... or just pay for the tools.

You could try tapping it, but you must be cautious not to torque the connector too much and damage the PC board.

Call Rockford at 800-366-2349 and have them quote a repair. Last I heard they have a flat rate depending on model. That amp isn't too old, so hopefully they have parts.
